Hey, BARS members give this a try for some real HF FUN!
See the WA7BNM CALENDAR https://www.contestcalendar.com/weeklycont.php#8808 for simplified details
You can find a full explanation here: http://www.arrl.org/sweepstakes. Or ask questions on the BARS reflector and club members will help you get started.
At exactly 2100 UTC on Saturday November 17, all the HF phone bands will come alive with activity through Sunday evening.
This is the ARRL Phone Sweepstakes weekend, one of the “big four” events each year (that is, CQ Worldwide, CQ WPX, ARRL DX and ARRL Sweepstakes).
The 5-part ARRL Sweepstakes Exchange takes a bit of getting used to:
– Serial No.
– Precedence (Q/A/B/U/M/S)
– [your call sign]
– ARRL/RAC Section.
This exchange format is based on an ARRL radiogram header and has five parts:
– Serial number – the number of this contact in the contest (1st, 10th, 121st, etc.)
– Precedence – your category designator as described above (Q, A, B, U, M, or S)
– Your call sign
– Check – the last two digits of the year in which you were licensed (i.e. – ‘02’ for 2002)
– ARRL Section – the abbreviation for your ARRL and RAC sections
