April 1st Meeting, Something for Everyone

Program: “YL’s, Facebook, and Field Day”
Tonight’s meeting features something for everyone. Instead of just one speaker and one topic, tonight’s format features 3 mini-meeting topics. This change of pace should result in a quick paced information filled evening for BARS members.

1. YL’s
First up will be Niece, KA1ULN, speaking about The Young Ladies’ Radio League (YLRL), Inc. Niece will describe what the YLRL is and what they do? Are there men in the YLRL? What is the purpose of the YLRL and how many members does it have? Is YLRL a worldwide organization? Does YLRL have a publication? Do they appear at all hamventions? How much is membership? Niece is an ARRL member and the YLRL District 1 Chairwoman.

2. Facebook
Next we welcome Jim, K1IR, who will demonstrate the BARS Facebook Group he created after seeing the Board discussion last month. The Board wanted to seek additional member input and this mini-talk is one way to do that. Jim will demonstrate what can be done and answer questions from members who may not be all that familiar with using Facebook.

3. Field Day
Finally, our third mini-topic of the evening shines the spot light on all of us. BARS needs a Field Day chair person now so we can have a planning session in May and a final plan ready in June. Do you want to volunteer? Last year, the members made this job easy. Everybody involved did something whether it was bring a radio, antenna, generator, food, beverages, or were operators. So the job of BARS FD chair puts one at the center of things but with lots of help. Lets talk about what kind of field day we want and where?

There are items of Business to be discussed.
1. The BOD met on Wednesday, March 18. In accordance with the BARS constitution K1TWF, BARS President, appointed Andy, KA1GTT, to fill the open BOD seat subject to member confirmation at the April meeting. This will be presented to the membership for discussion and approval.
