Our next meeting will be Wednesday, June 6th, 7PM at the Chelmsford Bible Church, 128 Gorham St, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
I am pleased to announce our speaker will be Harry Chase, WA1VVH. Harry will be speaking about his technical work with HCJB, a shortwave broadcaster from Ecuador. Harry was kind enough to give this talk at the Boston Area DXers meeting recently and it was great.
Most of us remember hearing HCJB when SWLing. There will be lots of photos of their stations (up to 500 kW), antennas, and equipment. And before you think this does not relate to ham radio – Clarence Moore, HC1JB invented the cubical quad antenna in 1942. And I have an HCJB QSL from when they operated an experimental (Johnson Viking II) transmitter on 26.020 kHz.
So please come and enjoy this. Feel free to forward to any SWL friends who might like to attend.
