Next BARS meeting 2/5/20 — and K1TWF elected First Vice President, ARRL

Everyone, please mark your calendars for the next BARS meeting: Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Our speaker that evening will be Mike Raisbeck, K1TWF,  who was just elected as First Vice President of the American Radio Relay League.

Mike attended the ARRL Cabinet meeting in January and will present his thoughts about that. He (along with me, K1TW, and about 40 others) attended Fred Hopengarten, K1VR’s New England Division Town Hall meeting in Springfield as well. He will talk about ARRL Board structure and responsibilities, and about how his influence in Newington has changed because of his new role.

Previously, Mike served as ARRL New England Vice Director – for twenty-two years! Mike has been on the Board of HamXposition (ex-Boxborough), Near-Fest, and a long time mover and shaker in local politics and amateur radio in general. He’s been in BARS for decades! To say “local boy makes good” doesn’t say enough. I am so happy to be with our Club during this time. Please come and hear from Mike and make your voice heard and carried to ARRL HQ – we are lucky to have an ally and a voice so close by.

Links to the ARRL Eastern MA section website and ARRL HQ are below and well worth reading to know more about Mike’s accomplishments.  Please join me in congratulating Mike on his step up! See you Wednesday!
