November 5, 2025 BARS Meeting – Jeffrey Schmidt, N5MNW, “The Various Digital Modes”

I am pleased to announce that our Guest Speaker for the November 5, 2025, hybrid Club Meeting will be Jeffrey Schmidt, N5MNW, from Round Rock, TX, and he will give a presentation entitled “The Various Digital Modes”.

Below is Jeff’s introduction:

I’ve always been fascinated by Radio. Signal propagation and the “inner workings” have held my interest and helped my career immensely.

Presently, I’m working in the Semiconductor Industry as an Engineering Technician, doing electrical evaluation of the “nuts and bolts” of Integrated Circuits. I’m constantly consulted by my peers as one who can pull the drapery away from an electrical problem and help everyone understand the issues. I think it’s because of Ham Radio and the experimentation it encourages.

The Austin Amateur Radio Club has been offering Ham license classes for several decades. My wife, Lori, KM5MQ, and I are involved with the coordination and instruction of all levels of Ham Radio Licenses.

It’s quite rewarding to see a past student get fired up about things like Digital Modes, Emergency response, ARES, or some other aspect of Ham Radio and do positive things with their privileges.

After the meeting, the recording and any shared content made available to BARS will be added to this post. The meeting will be in-person, at the Chelmsford Bible Church, 128 Gorham St, Chelmsford, MA, and online via Zoom.

As always, the link to join the Zoom meeting will be posted to the BARS email list and should not be shared outside our Club. Are you on the email list? If not, subscribing is as easy! See the BARS Email List for all the details.

Watching our Zoom meetings requires only a web browser and headphones or speakers. You do not need a microphone or webcam unless you want to speak or be seen. Please go to https://zoom.us/test to test your setup anytime before the meeting. If you have problems, feel free to ask questions on the BARS email list for assistance.

We look forward to “seeing” many of you there on Wednesday at 1900 local time.
