Membership in the Billerica Amateur Radio Society (BARS) runs from January 1st to December 31st of each calendar year. The cost of membership as of 2025 is $15 per year, with renewal payments due on January 1st. New members who join after June and individuals under the age of 18 are offered reduced rates. In addition, individuals who test for their amateur radio license with BARS are offered a unpaid membership for the remainder of the current membership year and my upgrade at any time. You do not have to be a licensed amateur radio operator to become a member.
BARS members can take advantage of several member-only benefits, and membership supports club operations. Some of the BARS member benefits include:
- Influencing the club’s future as a voting member.
- The opportunity to utilize the club callsign, W1HH, for events.
- The ability to loan various club equipment, including HF transceivers, to get on the air.
- Invitations to member-only club events, including our yearly holiday party.
- Use of club resources at conventions, like the BARS marketplace table at NEARfest.
- Access to the members’ only section of the website.
