March 4 Meeting to feature History of Shortwave broadcasting

Program:
Our guest for the evening will be Jerry Berg, who will talk about another side of radio–the history of shortwave broadcasting. Jerry has been a shortwave listener since the 1950s, and for the past 30 years he has also been active in researching the history of shortwave broadcasting, and its listeners. He has authored four books on the subject, and his presentation will include many graphics covering stations from the 1920s to the present, and related topics. If you want to do some advance “looking” on the subject, check out Jerry’s website at www.ontheshortwaves.com.

Our Guest Speaker:

He is a member of the Boston Area DXers, a local group devoted to radio listening and a major presence amongst shortwave DXers and clubs worldwide. The May 2014 issue of QST reviewed Jerry’s book, “The Early Shortwave Stations – A broadcasting History through 1945”.
